Edit a short promo video in Descript from narration and style references
A newsletter writer gave his dot a recorded narration in Descript plus two Instagram videos as style references. It found official footage, laid out B-roll and captions, trimmed the overlong cut, and after a few review rounds he published the finished short.
What they did
The writer of the AI for the 99% newsletter had already recorded and cut his narration. He gave the dot a Descript project with the narration and launch film, two Instagram videos for style, and a character clip. The dot found official demo footage, built a split opening, picked B-roll, placed full-frame shots and insets, added progressive captions and app logos, and cut excess footage that had stretched the project to about two and a half minutes.
What happened
After several exports and review passes, the writer published the finished short-form video. He adjusted a call-to-action and one animation himself, then pointed the dot to those as references, and it also created a moving shot he asked for from existing footage.
Keep in mind
This is one creator's own account a day after launch, with no count of how long the edit took compared with doing it by hand. He still made some changes himself and says extra context does not guarantee perfect results or recall.
