Let finance, ops and design staff build and fix their own tools
Grab, the Southeast Asian ride-hailing and delivery company, opened Cursor to staff outside engineering. Cursor says designers now ship UI fixes the same day and finance, ops and regional teams build tools for their own problems.
What they did
Grab ran workshops that trained several hundred people across five countries, including senior leaders, and trained designers on Git basics so their changes go through review. It also studied over 100,000 anonymized Cursor messages from about 4,000 people to see what each role used it for.
What happened
The company says designers have merged hundreds of reviewed UI fixes, bug fixing made up about 39% of activity in ops and business roles, and a manager in the CEO's Office now turns ideas into working tools without waiting for engineers.
